Poetry of the Presomatic Default Mode Network

Description of the exhibition

The Presomatic Default Mode Network refers to thought directed toward indirect experience prior to physical experience. Through his works, the artist seeks to highlight the moment that precedes a concrete event—for example, the space between a foot about to touch the ground and the ground itself. It is something that has not yet happened but is anticipated through experience: a kind of hiatus crystallized between memory and action.

The use of pre-linguistic symbols underscores this cognitive automatism. In Cristallo Odescalchi’s work, white and black, full and empty, straight lines and curved ones meet and neutralize each other, generating resonant residues that narrate various stages of development in relation to the spatiality of lived places.
